If you’re on the verge of superhero burn out, well, the end is not in sight. Marvel has been expanding their slate of television shows beyond Netflix at a pretty steady rate, with their newest, Cloak & Dagger, premiering on Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family) on June 7th. The Marvel deep cut is based on a comic about a teenage girl who can conjure daggers made of light and a teenage boy who can shroud people in darkness.
In the latest sneak peek from Freeform, fans get a look at the meet-cute between Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph). Once their powers manifest (Mafia experiments in the comics series, what looks like a car accident in the show), Tandy and Tyrone team up and hit the road. Somewhere along the way, feelings develop, making these two partners in more ways than one. The comic is criminally underrated, so Cloak & Dagger has the potential to turn new fans on to the cult series.
Runaways, the other Marvel show focusing on teens discovering their powers and consequently going on the run, managed to become one of the best and most compelling shows in the entertainment behemoth’s roster, so here’s hoping Cloak & Dagger follows suit.
