Bobby Rubio from Pixar illustrated Annie and Britta just as we remember them.
It’s been quite an emotional roller coaster for Community fans. First NBC pulled the show from their midseason lineup, setting off the #SixSeasonsAndAMovie movement. Then Community returned and we all patiently waited to hear if they’d be renewed. (And by “patiently waited” I mean we rolled into a ball and cried, “Too many feels!”)
While waiting to hear good news about the show’s renewal, PixelDrop Gallery in Los Angeles set up a project on Kickstarter for a “Six Seasons And A Movie” art show. Their project raised almost 200% of their goal amount. That show is now nearing its opening. They’re also adding some last-minute tribute art of the recently-fired showrunner Dan Harmon, including one of the paintings from our Dan Harmon tribute art roundup. UPROXX favorite/pal Jon DeFreest is also a part of the show.
PixelDrip Gallery will host the Six Seasons and a Movie art show at Monk Space in Los Angeles on June 23-24. The show includes works from over 130 artists, and they’ll also be exhibiting short films and video game demo kiosks. Admission is free. PixelDrop Gallery has the press release and a list of all artists involved in the show.
Mark Batalla, curator and manager of PixelDrip, says, “We are also honored to have artists that have worked on Community, such as Rob Schrab, Megan Ganz, Jim Mahfood, and Myke Chilian. The cast and crew’s close relationship with the fans is one that separates Community from many television shows.”
What can I say? We’re rabid about the things we like. And speaking of things we like, you’ll find more pictures of works from the exhibit starting on the next page. All pictures courtesy of /film and Pixel Drip Gallery on Facebook.
