Richard Pryor married Jennifer Lee Pryor in 1981, and although the two divorced after one year, they remarried 20 years later and were together until the end of his life. Pryor appeared on Alison Rosen’s Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend podcast over the weekend to discuss both of her marriages with Richard Pryor, drugs, sex, debauchery and her involvement in his upcoming biopic.
At one point, however, the topic of conversation turned to Bill Cosby, whose stand-up career began around the same time as her late husband’s in New York City. Mrs. Pryor did not hold back on her feelings towards the beleaguered Cosby. From Flavorwire:
“Richard was dirty on the outside, but he was a good person on the inside. Bill, he hated Richard because he ‘worked dirty’. Bill worked clean, so therefore, you know—Bill’s just a f*cking hypocrite, and dirty on the inside…. It was a well-kept secret that Bill f*cked everything that moved. [But] this kind of sh*t that we’re finding out about is beyond—I mean, I wasn’t aware of this kind of business.
“He’s done… he’s a piece of sh*t.”
Richard Pryor himself was a troubled man, dealing with substance abuse and domestic violence, and his widow also detailed in the podcast how on more than one occasion, he threatened her life as well as his own, which makes her thoughts on Bill Cosby especially heavy.
