Generally, the goal with independent comics these days is to get some of that Walking Dead money. Dark Matter appears to have gotten to step two of this particular three-step plan, landing a series on Syfy.
The plot’s pretty straightforward; six people wake up on a spaceship with no memories but a particular set of skills. From there, they have to figure out why they’re on the ship, who wiped their memories, and what to do with that information next.
The real selling point is the behind-the-scenes talent, Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. If the names sound familiar, that’s because they’re both veterans of the Stargate TV series, so a big, broad SF action show from these guys is worth keeping an eye on. Still, we’d like to know a little more about the series, especially because the original comic didn’t light the stands on fire. We’ll be able to see for ourselves starting June 12.
