Despite being recently beaten up by a 14-year-old, “Angry Birds” is still sweeping the world with 50 million downloads and counting. Rovio has partnered with, well, somebody, and the animated series will be coming to web or small screens soon, no doubt featuring simplistic plotlines and cheesy voice acting, like any cartoon based on a cuddly property should.
Does this sound like a bad idea? Well, meh. They’re already merchandizing the crap out of the game, which really makes this less a thin attempt to cash in on a rousing success in one area of media and more of a throwback to the 1980s, when men were men, women were women and also men, and cartoons were nothing more than half-hour toy commercials. Who knows? Maybe these small round fowl are the next He-Man.
