Seeking an “adult friend” online can be a harrowing experience. Whether you’re looking for love somewhere in the deeper recesses of the Internet’s toilet bowl, or just want to have some sexy time, many of the websites offering such services are sketchy at best. Like AdultFriendFinder.com, a website whose primary description boasts:

Looking for sex? Hoping to meet someone special for a hot, sexual relationship or even just a quick fling? Sign up at Adult FriendFinder.com to access our thriving sex community and satiate your need for amazing sexual experiences.

Sure, you can enter your personal data if you want, but you do so at great risk — especially since the website was recently hacked by a frequent user of the “dark web.” As Channel 4 reports:

The information of 3.9m Adult FriendFinder members has been leaked, including those who told the site to delete their accounts.

Of the 3.9 million users whose personal information was hacked, 26,939 are residents of the United Kingdom — where Channel 4’s investigation is based. Most are personal accounts, but some are “linked to dozens of government and armed services personnel, including members of the British Army.”
