In case you’d forgotten, what with worrying about the world ending and everything, the Mississippi River has been flooding a huge swath of land encompassing parts of Mississippi and Louisiana. And of course, some amazing and heartbreaking photos have emerged from the whole mess that have been floating around the web — like the one above of a home near Vicksburg, Mississippi where the owner of the house constructed his own levee to protect his home and property.So I put together a few of the pics I was most struck by and put them in a slideshow.
