Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee knew exactly what would happen when Pat Smith took the stage on the first night of the convention. And she delivered on cue.
Smith has been very vocal in her criticism of Hillary Clinton during the Benghazi investigation. The House Committee’s final ruling that absolved the presumptive Democratic nominee (and placed blame on the Obama administration’s insufficient security protocols) did not satisfy the mother of Sean Smith. In fact, Pat’s been just as vocal as she was previously and called for Clinton to be in stripes.
On Monday night at the RNC, Smith stayed true to her beliefs. She told the audience, “For all of this loss, for all of this grief, for all of the cynicism the tragedy in Benghazi has wrought upon America, I blame Hillary Clinton.” Smith continued. “Hillary Clinton is a woman, a mother and a grandmother of two. I am a woman, a mother and a grandmother of two. How could she do this to me? How could she do this to any American family?”
Smith then compared Clinton to Trump. “He is blunt, direct and strong. And, when it comes to the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism, he will not hesitate to kill the terrorists who threaten American lives.” Then Smith finished the speech by once again announcing, “Hillary Clinton for prison. She deserves to be in stripes.”
