Realistically, there is very little that Jared Fogle could do from his jail cell to help heal the pain victims of his heinous crimes feel on a daily basis. There is no way he can begin to make up for the things he did to them while locked away, but it appears he’s found a way to make them worse.
According to TMZ, Fogle has filed a lawsuit that targets the parents of one his child victims commonly referred to as “Jane Doe” throughout his trial. The lawsuit claims the victim’s parents, identified as B.T. and J.T., are the ones ultimately responsible for the abuse Fogle and ex-employee, Russell Taylor, inflicted on the girl due to their divorce. The suit also claims the parents tendency to drink around their daughter caused irreparable harm to her psyche.
Fogle and Taylor were both convicted of child pornography charges related to taking and sharing photos of the victim, in addition to convictions related to other cases involving the abuse of under-age girls. The court documents filed in the suit detail how Fogle and his representation believe Jane Doe’s parents are at fault.
B.T. and J.T. maintained a hateful and abusive relationship toward each other, which included, but was not limited to, engaging in frequent fighting and arguing between themselves; abusing alcohol and getting drunk; and engaging in frequent fighting, physical abuse, and arguing with Jane Doe, which caused Jane Doe to suffer from emotional distress, anxiety, and major depression before she learned of any allegations [about Fogle and Taylor],’ his lawyers argued.
Fogle is currently serving 15 and a half years in prison for his crimes against 14 victims, all of which he was ordered to pay $1 million each to. The parents of Jane Doe have yet to respond to the lawsuit.
