Killer Mike Tucked Into Soul Food With His Good Friend Bernie Sanders In Atlanta

Social media lit up like crazy for two guys shooting the breeze at a restaurant. On Monday, Bernie Sanders and Killer Mike of Run the Jewels kicked back at Atlanta soul food restaurant Busy Bee Cafe. What did they eat? One not-so-covert tweeter (ABC journalist MaryAlice Parks) reported how Sanders ordered “fried chicken, dark meat, yams, rice and gravy.” What did the two men discuss? Good ol’ Feel the Bern is a #CoolOldMan, according to some of Killer Mike’s Instagram tags, which you’ll see at the bottom of this post.

Earlier in the day, Sanders visited the Martin Luther King Jr. center and met MLKJ’s daughter, Dr. Bernice King. After cafe time, Killer Mike introduced Sanders at his big rally. Mike spoke of “the next president of the United States.” Mike’s delivery was far more impassioned than any candidate (Sanders included) currently on the campaign trail.

Over the course of five minutes, Killer Mike favorably compared Sanders to fellow “revolutionary” King, as well as Jesus Christ. Mike also said, “In my heart of hearts, I truly believe that Senator Bernie Sanders is the right man to lead this country.” Mike also asked the audience to “stay confronting bullsh*t wherever you turn.” Likewise, Sanders said of his friend, “He’s trying to talk truth throughout this country and, in fact, throughout the world — trying to bring people together. Mike, thanks very much for what you’re doing.”
