We recently ran out of words to describe Russell Westbrook’s nearly unprecedented level of play. Fortunately, Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks found a new way to characterize his superstar point guard – and it’s extremely apt.
During a discussion with ESPN’s Heather Cox in advance of Wednesday’s nationally televised matchup between the Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers, Brooks went a step further than simply calling Westbrook a “freak.”
Just finished sitdown w/ @okcthunder Scott Brooks. My fav line "Westbrook is a freak-not just a freak- the freakiest of freaks." @ESPNNBA

Sounds about right to us. How else to explain a player capable of something like this just days removed from surgery to repair a fracture in his cheek?
Related: Russ went off for 49 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in his team’s overtime win versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Freaky, indeed.
Westbrook and the Thunder face-off against Chris Paul and the Clippers tonight at 8:00 EST on ESPN.
