Some of the most interesting films being made today are coming out of Scandinavia, and while I don’t want to get into a whole debate over whether Finland is technically Scandinavian, Big Game is a new Finnish film from Rare Exports director Jalmari Helander and it looks pretty buck wild.
First off, Samuel L. Jackson plays the president of the United States, which is absolutely something that should happen. His plane crash lands in a Finnish forest, where he’s taken in by a bow-wielding wild child named Oscari. Terrorists come looking for the president, and from there, it’s basically a take-off on Die Hard in a forest, with John McClaine represented by a small Finnish boy. And just when you think things couldn’t get any wilder, BOOM, IT’S JIM F*CKIN BROADBENT. No one ever expects a Broadbending.
No release date set as of yet, but yes, I will see this movie.
