What do you get when you cross The Blind Side with a heartfelt drama about Sudan’s civil war? Hopefully an Oscar, if you’re Reese Witherspoon, because I don’t think she can grovel for it any harder than this. Reese plays a plucky Southern lady trying to help some former Sudanese lost boys find a job in The Good Lie, from Philippe Falardeau and producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Wouldn’t you know it? Reese and the refugees are opposites almost from the word go! She doesn’t know where Sudan is! They’ve never seen ice before! They think plastic bags is luggage! They go out to a farm and ask about lions! Talk about a school of Sudanese fish WAAAY out of (*fart noise*)
OH THANK GOD REESE WITHERSPOON IS HERE TO SAVE SUDAN WITH PLUCKY SOUTHERN CHARM!
YER CHANGIN’ THAT REFUGEE’S (*toilet flush*)!
NOPE. HE’S (*donkey sound*)ING (*sad trombone*)!
Reese’s Refugees opens October 3rd. It looks really good.
