Were you wondering what Scarlett Johansson would be doing after playing Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier but before reprising the role in The Avengers 2? She’s reportedly in final negotiations with Universal to play an unwilling drug mule who becomes imbued with superpowers.
Better yet, the film (Lucy) is from writer-director Luc Besson of The Fifth Element, The Professional, and La Femme Nikita.
Besson wrote the script for Lucy, which centers on a woman forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts. [THR]
See, guys, doing massive quantities of drugs isn’t all bad! Sometimes you get superpowers like “not feeling pain” or “forgetting there’s a hot pocket in the microwave” or “spontaneous nosebleeds” or “time travel” (AKA blackouts).
Anyway, it’s about time a movie about someone getting superpowers starred a female. How many of those in a row have starred dudes? It’s only white guys in their teens and early twenties who get in freak accidents? Bite me with a radioactive spider, Hollywood.
