Warner just released the first trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second of three movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and the 125 pages of The Appendices. Yesterday, they released the new Desolation of Smaug poster to try to trick us into writing a separate post about it. Tricksy tricksy Hobbitses. Here’s the poster:
Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) stands at the entrance to the Lonely Mountain, where Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) guards his purloined Dwarven treasure. “It is undoubtedly a trap,” Gandalf says in the trailer below. “Tell me about it,” says Admiral Ackbar in the crossover fiction we just started writing.
Here be dragons. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens this December 13th.
