Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow recently revealed the movie isn’t a reboot, but will instead pick up in real time, 22 years after Jurassic Park. Not only is it the same universe, but the guy behind those amazing creatures is coming back to make cool dinosaurs. Trevorrow tweeted the picture above to announce Phil Tippett’s return.
You probably know Tippett not only from his work in Jurassic Park, but also from the AT-ATs and Tauntauns in The Empire Strikes Back and ED-209 in the original Robocop, among other things.
He’s also internet famous as the guy who makes us yell, “YOU HAD ONE JOB.”
Having Tippett there to supervise the big lizards again should ensure all of the character and flavour that we want. And yes, that’s a maquette of a T-Rex. Archive model? Oh, we’ll get a T-Rex in the movie somewhere – the question would simply be how much T-Rex, for how long, and doing what? [Bleeding Cool]
The T-Rex can be just photobombing people in the background while waving his tiny arms, and I’ll be happy. As long as he’s there.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt as an ex-military dude and Bryce Dallas Howard as a corporate scientist. Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson will play her nephews. We’ll let you know about the rest of the cast as deals are finalized. Phil Tippett’s dinosaurs are going to start moving in herds to theaters on June 12th, 2015.
