Zoe Saldana And Sam Worthington have signed for three Avatar sequels, announced Fox in a press release. Stephen Lang has already signed for a resurrection of Colonel Quaritch. (This shouldn’t be a spoiler. Avatar is five years old and made a record-setting $2.8 billion in theaters. If you haven’t watched those blue cats having randy ponytail sex yet, that’s your loss, hoss.)
THR says Saldana and Worthington’s characters of Neytiri and Jake Sully will have children in the next sequel, with the three sequels coming out in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Cameron is co-writing them with Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds); Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planets of the Apes); and Shane Salerno (Savages) respectively.
Not surprisingly, the first movie’s release is set to coincide with the opening of an Avatar attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, because money. The three sequels will shoot back-to-back and cat-ass to cat-ass, perhaps at James Cameron’s new 2,470 acre, $16.7M property in New Zealand.
We went ahead and photoshopped a poster for all three sequels.
Feel free to use that for the entire franchise, Mr. Cameron. *finger guns*
