The E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was pretty crazy/awesome, but if you’re looking for something just a little more down to Earth, we have 40-minutes of new gameplay footage for you today.
This footage contains all sorts of interesting little nuggets like, for instance, the game’s approach to microtransactions (yes, it will have them, but the developers promise all the game’s items will be available through regular play). The footage also reveals that you can choose who you want to play as (it doesn’t have to be Snake/Big Boss) and you can choose from a variety of animal buddies to accompany you. In the mission you’ll see, the player is teaming up with Diamond Dog, who seems to be quite the charming/deadly little scamp.
I’m not great at stealth games, but I am really liking the openness and options I’m seeing in Metal Gear Solid V. After skipping the last couple games in the series, it might be time to give Metal Gear a go again.
