Shockingly, Blizzard hasn’t created a new property since Starcraft in 1998. Of course, they’ve had countless sequels to their various über-successful franchises. Since 1998, Diablo has gotten two sequels and a host of expansion packs. Everyone’s favorite RTS Starcraft just finished its sequel trilogy, and Blizzard has enjoyed more than a decade of MMO dominance with World of Warcraft (not to mention Warcraft 3). But when oh when would the almighty Blizzard come out with something new? Something that changed the POV. No, Heroes of The Storm doesn’t count, even if it’s loads of fun.
Blizzard answered our gaming prayers in 2014 with the announcement of Overwatch — a team-based FPS with loads of personality and an aesthetic never before seen from Blizzard. Simply put — it looks like Team Fortress 2 and and Blizzard made a competitive FPS love-child and dipped it in a bucket of Disney sauce.
Since demographics bleed over, and throngs of Blizzard fans are flocking to theaters to see The Force Awakens (which has a sweet trailer for the Warcraft movie in front of it), Overwatch is getting its very own theatrical trailer that shows off its diverse heroes.
In the minute-long trailer, you’ll see the Overwatch, a band of mighty heroes that are protecting the world from all that’s evil and looks like it could — and probably should — be made into its very own movie. Remember that you can opt in for the Overwatch closed beta coming in early 2016. If you aren’t a fan of betas, then Overwatch’s launch in spring 2016 can’t come soon enough.
