On August 1st, 2014, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters, thusly changing the lives of both Chris Pratt and James Gunn forever. Yesterday, the two took to Twitter and Facebook to celebrate the one year anniversary of the film by sharing some heartfelt messages for fans the world over.
Writer/director James Gunn first took to Facebook to discuss the lasting box office effect the movie had as well as the rallying cry that “We are Groot” became:
Gunn also took to Twitter where he shared a cute piece of fan art featuring a tiny Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon:

Hopping on board Gunn’s praise train — yes, I said “praise train” — Chris Pratt also posted to Twitter his appreciation and for the film and excitement for his inevitable return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Star-Lord himself:
A year ago today #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy opened introducing the whole world to director @JamesGunn What a visionary. Can't wait to it again.

The inevitable return is currently scheduled for May 5th, 2017. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will find the gang back together again as Chris Pratt will rejoin Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), and Bradley Cooper (Rocket) in the highly anticipated sequel. Based on his own original idea, James Gunn has stated we’ll learn a lot more about fathers, get more of a backstory on Rocket and some new Guardians will allegedly be introduced. Damn, 2017 can’t come fast enough!
