As we revealed yesterday, LEGO and Star Wars are teaming up again for the first full The Force Awakens video game. One of the most interesting aspects of the game is that it will include stages that reveal exclusive details about what happened between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and we now know a bit more about these missions.
There will be six missions that bridge Episode VI and VII, and you won’t have to play them to “beat” the game. That said, they’re full-length stages that are just as substantial as any of the game’s core missions. According to Game Informer, stories tackled will include how C-3PO ended up with that weird red replacement arm, how Han Solo and Chewie managed to catch a ship full of Rathtars and new details on the Trillia Massacre, which is mentioned offhand in the movie.
Unfortunately, there is one story the game won’t be covering – don’t expect any hints about Rey’s parents.
LEGO Star Wars lead designer Mike Taylor talked about being given the coveted chance to expand the new Star Wars universe…
“It’s pretty mind-blowing really to think that we’ve had the opportunity to do this. It’s fantastic to be able to look at all these fantastic new characters from The Force Awakens and speak to Lucasfilm about how we can sort of look into their backstory and how they’ve been led to the events of The Force Awakens, I still struggle to believe that it’s actually possible to do that. We’ve covered, or are in the process of covering, some pretty significant events that happen before the film. It’s pretty amazing.”
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives June 28.
