Modern superhero cinema revolves around the crossover, and fans of Marvel’s Netflix output will be treated to one of their own sooner rather than later. Today, during an event in Paris, Daredevil star Charlie Cox confirmed that The Defenders, the crossover that will feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, will begin filming later this year. While there is still no release date for the show, Cox was quoted as saying that, “What we do know is at the end of the year we’re going to be making The Defenders…”
Cox additionally mentioned that he still has no idea if there will be a third season of Daredevil, though that hasn’t stopped speculation as to what or who it could center on. This makes Marvel’s (apparent) slate for the next year or so Luke Cage, followed by Iron Fist (recently confirmed to be played by Game of Thrones‘ Finn Jones), and then The Defenders. This could change at any time, but based on what’s been confirmed or announced so far, it seems like the safe bet.
We’ll be anxiously awaiting news on The Defenders, as well as news as to whether or not we’ll get another season of Matt Murdock beating up bad dudes in hallways.
