Mike Tyson’s Punch Out is definitely one of the greatest Nintendo games of all time. It spawned several sequels, created countless memes, and introduced kids to thinly-veiled racism at a very early age. You wouldn’t think a nearly 30-year-old game would still hold many secrets, but you’d be wrong. At least you’re wrong in the eyes of this keen-eyed Redditor. User midwesternhousewives found this new tell that allows you to easily defeat several opponents with one shot — something that happens elsewhere in the game at several points.
For those looking to try it, pay close attention to this bearded guy in the second fights with Piston Honda and Bald Bull.
When he ducks or flinches during each fighter’s special attack, you want to strike. It will be a one hit knockout and will make your path to Mike Tyson — or Mr. Dream — that much easier. It joins the bulb flash in the first Bald Bull fight as a secret tell to beat the fighters. The Punch Out for Wii made all of this a lot easier by giving each fighter their own little weaknesses that flashed red on screen, but there’s a certain joy to finding these.
As many of the commenters over at Reddit posted, it makes you wonder how many more secrets are out there to find in the game. It is such a simple game, but there’s still little things to discover here and there.
