Last time Sir Patrick Stewart spoke about X-Men: Apocalypse, he was pretty sure he and his homie forever Ian McKellen wouldn’t be in Apocalypse. He knows more about the production now, and he says McKellen is in the movie after all. He was also teasing details from Wolverine 3 in an interview with The Oregonian.
It sounds like you won’t be returning as Charles Xavier in the next “X-Men: Apocalypse”. Is that something you can confirm?
Yes, I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next “X-Men” movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in Montreal.
Well, if you’re going to be in it, you better get to Montreal quickly, it sounds like.
[laughs] But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it. And what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of “X-Men” from the four movies that I’ve already done.
I’m picturing a mismatched-buddies-road-movie sort of thing.
I’d just like to get to drive his motorbike, I think.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 26th, 2016, with Wolverine 3 following on March 3rd, 2017. And if they don’t at the very least give Wolverine a sidecar for Professor X to sit in, we will be sorely disappointed.
