When Star Wars Battlefront launched back in November, it was a bit light on content, and EA hasn’t added all that much to the game since. Thankfully, Outer Rim, the first Star Wars Battlefront expansion, will soon be here to add some more meat to the stormtrooper-blasting experience.
Outer Rim serves up four new maps set on the planets Sullust and Tatooine, new weapons, power-ups and heroes, and an additional multiplayer mode. The new mode, called Extraction, sees the Rebel side trying to grab precious resources from a transport ship, while the Empire tries to stop them in their tracks. Honestly, Outer Rim feels a little skimpy, although have I mentioned Greedo is one of the new heroes available in this expansion? Yeah, he is. Time to debate that “Who shot first?” once again. You can check out a trailer for the Outer Rim expansion above.
Outer Rim becomes available on March 22 as part of Star Wars Battlefront‘s $50 season pass, or on its own on April 5 for $15. Two more Battlefront expansions are on the way this year, each of which will deliver an all-new planet to play on. Bespin arrives this summer and Death Star is expected this fall.
