The next game in the inFamous series, inFamous: Second Son, doesn’t star the most electrifying man in computer entertainment, Cole McGrath. Instead it picks up with Delsin Rowe, and a Department of Unified Protection intent on killing superheroes. So what happened to Cole? There’s an answer to that… that you’ll need to preorder the next game to find out.
According to Sony, only those who’ve preordered the game will find out what happened to Cole. Technically it’s only for the “Limited” edition, but they’ve bumped all their preorders up to that anyway. Anyway, the plot description is as follows:
Cole MacGrath’s actions in New Marias set in motion a chain of events leading to the now forceful occupation of Seattle by the oppressive Department of Unified Protection. Cole’s Legacy bridges this gap in time with a series of missions Delsin Rowe must complete that reveal unique insights into how the world of inFAMOUS Second Son came to be.
You also get to wear Cole’s jacket in-game. Bright yellow is a great choice for hiding from the authorities! There’s also a collector’s edition, with the DLC and the usual detritus:
Joking aside, it’s simultaneously annoying and intriguing. Annoying because the “good” ending of inFamous 2 is the canonical one, even if the bad ending was infinitely more badass, and intriguing because presumably this collection of audio logs or whatever will tell us what happened to the rest of the cast who made it out of that game mostly unscathed. And there is the question of why there are any conduits left since, well, that was the entire point of Cole doing what he did, pulling a Scarlet Witch on the whole universe.
That said, if you find the first audio log or whatever this is and it turns out to be Zeke whining, we’ll want a refund. We don’t care if it’s free. We deserve a refund.
