At this year’s E3, Microsoft announced the Xbox One S, a sexy, slimmed down version of their current console. At the time, the powers that be were a bit vague about the new machine’s release window, but now we have a specific date – the Xbox One officially trims down on August 2.
For those who missed the E3 news, the Xbox One S isn’t just 40 percent smaller, it will also be able to play 4K Blu-rays and streaming video. The machine won’t support 4k resolution for games, but it will bring High Dynamic Range support (HDR) – basically, it will make the blacks in your games extra dark and crispy. You’ll also get a new Xbox One controller with the machine, which features a stronger signal, Bluetooth support and an overall tweaked design. The Xbox One S comes in three models – a 500 GB model for a mere $299, 1 TB version for $349 or a massive 2 TB version for $399.
What do you folks think? Have you been holding out on the Xbox One, but thinking about giving this new updated, economical version a try? Or are you going to snap up an original XBone once it gets the inevitable price cut?
