Baymax, the loveable robot from Disney's new animated family flick “Big Hero 6,” is huggably soft for his size. He “lives” to heal and aid heart-heavy protagonist Hiro and his band of friends in a high-tech adventure; his hilarious attempts to adopt everyday parlance is fantastically stunted, he squeaks when he walks and his puffy hands and little black eyes are endearingly warm. Even for a piece of technology.
If there's one thing you can say about Disney, it's that the company has churned out some of the cutest, affable, disarmingly huggable characters in cinematic history. They've even made adorkable robots before — how bad did you want to squeeze Wall-E? Super bad.
From the baby animals in “Bambi” and “The Lion King”; to sea life in “Little Mermaid” and puppies in “101 Dalmatians” and mice in “Cinderella”; to fluffy sidekicks in “Jungle Book,” “Up” and “Pinnocio”; to neurotic companions in “Toy Story” and “Winnie the Pooh”; Disney has found a way to crack the cute code, if even for a footstool (“Beauty and the Beast”).
