Emmy-winning actress America Ferrera has penned an open letter to Donald Trump. Does she blast him for his recent comments that Mexican immigrants are bringing drugs and rapists to the U.S.? Nope. She thanks him.
Yep. Ferrera used her letter, published on the Huffington Post, to thank the business mogul for motivating more Latinos to vote.
“Remarks like yours will serve brilliantly to energize Latino voters and increase turnout on election day against you and any other candidate who runs on a platform of hateful rhetoric,” Ferrera wrote.
By the way, the “Ugly Betty” actress has a degree in International Relations from USC. She also writes the letter as a member of the Latino community herself. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ferrera is of Honduran decent.
Trump”s remarks about Mexican immigrants led to Univision canceling its telecast of the Miss USA pageant (which Trump partially owns) and NBC severing its business ties with Trump. “The Apprentice” host made those comments in a speech announcing his run for the presidency.
“The truth is, Mr. Trump, that your comments mean that you fail to see that immigrants are what have made this nation,” Ferrera also wrote. “I hope by now you understand that without the Latino vote, there is no chance of you ever winning this election.”
