By now you”ve probably seen, or at least heard of, the Red Hot Chili Peppers joining James Corden for his Late Late Show sketch, Carpool Karaoke. The host and band recently rocked out while covering RHCP tunes in Los Angeles traffic. But the trip took a serious turn when they helped save a baby who wasn”t breathing.
In an interview with Radio X, Anthony Kiedis explained the harrowing experience that made him a hero.
“A woman came out of her house, holding a child saying, 'My baby, my baby, my baby can't breathe!'” Kiedis said.
The singer continued, ”We all ran across the street, the woman thrust the baby into my arms, the baby wasn't breathing and I thought, 'I'm gonna try and do a little baby CPR real quick, see if I can get some air in this kid'. Tried to open the mouth, [it was] like, locked shut.” He said he began rubbing the baby”s stomach and before long, the child began breathing again. They stayed with the two until paramedics arrived on the scene.
“It was kind of a beautiful thing that we stopped…[as] the baby needed help and we were there,” Kiedis said.
Bravo. Bravo.
