If the origin story holds true to the comic, The Atom”s suit is powered by part of a white dwarf star condensed down into a lens. Through the power of comic book science/magic, the lens can reduce Routh”s size. If this sounds oddly familiar, just remember that DC and Marvel basically spent decades in a character creation Cold War. In this case, Palmer”s version of The Atom first appeared in 1961, squeaking in just ahead of Hank Pym”s 1962 arrival.
*Fun Fact: The character was created in 1961 and his name is an homage to science-fiction writer Raymond. A Palmer.
The “Nanda Parbat” episode of “Arrow” premieres on The CW on February 25.
