At this rate, by the time they release the next Bad Boys, they”ll be Bad Men. Or even older.
Variety is reporting that the third film in the buddy cops series, featuring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, has had its release pushed back from June 2017 to January 2018. The publication adds that the film will be titled Bad Boys for Life.
The movie, which is slated to begin production in early 2017, will be directed by Joe Carnahan. Carnahan has previously directed such films as The A-Team and The Grey. He takes over behind the camera for Michael Bay, who directed the first two.
By the time BBFL is released, it will have been 22 years since the original film was out in theaters. The follow up, Bad Boys II, came out in 2003. The first Bad Boys grossed an unadjusted $141 million on just a $19 million budget. But the sequel didn”t do nearly as well. On a production budget that ballooned to $130 million, it only brought in an unadjusted $273 million.
