(CBR) Warner Bros. didn”t have to look far to find a director for its sequel “The LEGO Movie”: Deadline reports the studio has hired Chris McKay, who served as animation co-director on the original.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed this year”s animated hit, will return to produce the follow-up, which is being written by Jared Stern (“Wreck-It Ralph”) and Michelle Morgan (“Girl Most Likely”). It”s set for release on May 26, 2017.
“The LEGO Movie”, which featured the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Will Arnett, Alison Brie, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman, has grossed more than $361 million worldwide since its premiere early last month.
