Does Clark Gregg know more than he's letting on? Almost certainly, but what precisely that might be is a little harder to guess.
Speaking to us at San Diego Comic-Con last week, Gregg discussed one of the aspects of the way the Marvel Universe works that he really enjoys, “They're doing something new, which is, what's happening on the TV show crosses over into the movies. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw something happen in 'Agent Carter' that connected with 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'” He ended that statement with a look of feigned surprise, a look which almost undoubtedly indicated that a crossover of some sort has been in the works.
But, just what sort of crossover was unclear. The first season of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” saw Lady Sif from “Thor: The Dark World” appear in an episode. It then saw the entire storyline of the TV series radically altered in light of the events in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” even if there wasn't a v cast crossover at that moment.
The Marvel Universe in movies and television is just that – a single universe. As it broadens with more movies and more TV shows, it will, hopefully, only grow more intriguing.
“Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will have its second season premiere on September 23rd at 9pm on ABC.
