The Roots have gathered some famous friends from the world of hip hop and beyond for their fifth annual Roots Picnic this summer.
The Philly group will be joined by a diverse array of performers including upstart Kid Cudi, rap legends De La Soul, indie goddess St. Vincent and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy offering a DJ set. Mixtape king Wale, NYC weirdos tUnE-yArDs and Chicago hip hopper Flosstradamus will also appear at the two-day fest, which will take place June 2nd and 3rd at the festival pier at Penn”s Landing in Philadelphia.
The Roots themselves will be pulling double-duty, by performing their own headlining set and backing De La Soul for their performance. Diplo will likewise be putting in for overtime at the event: He’ll offer a solo set and perform as one-half of the duo Major Lazer.
