On January 11th, “House of Lies” is returning to Showtime. This Sunday, October 19th, the first teaser for the new season will be on your television, but why wait until then? We have it for you, as an exclusive, right now.
The series, as a whole, follows a group of management consultants led by Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle, in a role which earned him three Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win). Or, it did until the season finale last year when the FBI came in and Marty had to resign and went off into the desert. The teaser states it all quite eloquently with the phrase, “Shit went down.”
Just because things went down though, that doesn't mean that they won't start going back up. The teaser also promises that we're going to be getting, “The fall and rise of Marty Kaan,” which would be nice. Whether he is the author of his own misfortunes or not, things haven't gone very well as of late and it would be nice to see an upswing.
Whether things go up or down, don't expect them to progress smoothly. Kaan & Associates has some a perception problem, as does Marty himself, and there isn't going to be an easy solution.
Watching the preview, you will note the use of a cover of Gloria Gaynor's “I Will Survive.” Perhaps we are to imagine that it is Kaan himself singing. Perhaps it was a mantra for him during a nice stay in prison. That we may have to wait until January to learn.
The season four premiere of “House of Lies” is on January 11th. The series also stars Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, and Josh Lawson. Guest stars this season include Larenz Tate, Demetri Martin, and Valorie Curry.
