FOX announced two new shows for their 2016-17 season today, and there”s more than a hint of familiarity with both of them.
The network ordered 24: Legacy, the next iteration of the popular “real-time” 24 series. Legacy will feature Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto and Jimmy Smits in a race against the clock to stop a terrorist attack.
Following on the success of Empire, the network is diving back into the music world with Star. According to FOX, the series follows three singers as they “navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success.” Produced by Empire“s Lee Daniels, Star will feature Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt and newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O”Grady.
The network has currently ordered 12 episodes of 24: Legacy and 13 episodes of Star. No premiere date has been announced for either program.
