In Mad Max: Fury Road, Charlize Theron drove with reckless abandon across a desert wasteland. It looks like she”ll have the chance to put those skills to the test again as Theron is joining the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.
According to Variety, Theron is on board for the eighth iteration of the car chase movies – this one called Fast 8. While it”s uncertain what her exact role will be, the publication is reporting that she”ll be a villain fighting against Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez among others. The movie will be shot by F. Gary Gray, who previously directed Theron in the 2003 movie The Italian Job.
Since the franchise began in 2001, the Fast movies have raked in more than $3.8 billion. Furious 7 alone delivered $1.5 billion worldwide.
The next (but certainly not the last) installment is slated for an April 2017 release.
