The trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters movie hasn”t been getting much love recently. With nearly 700,000 “Thumbs Down” on YouTube, it”s reportedly the least-liked trailer in the history of the site. Now it”s safe to say there”s one more person who isn”t a fan, and it”s a star of the film.
In an interview with The Johnjay & Rich Show, Melissa McCarthy told the Tucson-based DJs that she found the trailer “very confusing.” When she lodged her complaint with the powers that be, McCarthy added, “Everyone said, ‘We don”t care what you think.””
The actress”s major complaint about the trailer is that it makes it seem like a remake of the 1984 original film that starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver. Instead, McCarthy would prefer the story be positioned as a reboot.
“It”s a reboot,” McCarthy said. “I know its weird that they say [in the trailer] ’30 years ago,” but in this movie its like the first one didn”t happen…It”s not dependent on the first one.”
Like it or not, Ghostbusters, which stars McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig is set for a July 15 release.
