Ridley Scott's “Alien” turns 36 today, which should definitely make you feel old. But forget all that! Just like you, Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic feels as fresh and vibrant as the day it was released/born.
There's something about these vintage behind-the-scenes photos from the film's set. Something…nostalgic. Classic. Warm and fuzzy, even. I don't doubt the production period on the film was tortuous, backbreaking and often breathtakingly dull for the majority of those involved (welcome to Hollywood!), but it's nice to pretend that it was one giant free-for-all of fun and creativity.
Travel back with us now to the late 1970s, when Sigourney Weaver was an up-and-coming actress enjoying her first starring role, Yaphet Kotto was kind of a big deal and Veronica Cartwright was the queen of terrified facial expressions. In short, take a break from 2015, which is a mess, and let these 36 blessed photos (one for every year of the film's release) be your time machine back to a “kinder,” “gentler” era of Hollywood filmmaking.
