Are we living in a golden age of horror movies? Dermot Mulroney seems to think so.
“I just love how good horror movies are getting these days,” the “Insidious: Chapter 3” star (taking on his first role in a full-fledged horror film) told me while doing press rounds for the Leigh Whannell-directed followup, which takes place several years prior to the first two installments. “'Insidious 1 and 2' very much led the charge on that movement.”
Though it's titled “Insidious Chapter 3,” the film serves as something of an origin tale for Lin Shaye's medium character Elise Rainier, marking the actress's third time playing the pastel-loving psychic. So I had to ask: if Mulroney could revisit one character from his past films, which one would it be?
“I missed 'Young Guns II,'” he answered, referencing the 1990 sequel to the film in which he played the doomed “Dirty Steve” Stephens. “So that would have been nice to do that one with those guys again.”
