Back in December 2008, Blade director Stephen Norrington announced his intention to write and direct a “reinvention” of The Crow. But his attachment didn't last, and over the succeeding years a number of other filmmakers signed on to the project, from 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to Francisco Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) and now Corin Hardy (The Hallow), who reportedly departed earlier this year but is now seemingly (re?)attached. Likewise, the project has gone through a number of stars, with Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, and Jack Huston all reportedly in the mix at some time or another.
Now, it looks like Jason Momoa is set to don the white makeup and black eyeliner as undead protagonist Eric Draven, with Mashable reporting that the former Game of Thrones star and current Aquaman is in talks for the long-gestating project. The report follows a recent Instagram post by Momoa that saw him posing with Hardy, along with the hashtags #sealthedeal, #greatnewstocome and #dreamjob. It appears now that The Crow is the “dream job” he was referring to.

Based on the James O'Barr comic book of the same name, the original version of The Crow has a tragic backstory, as star Brandon Lee died during production when a dummy round was accidentally fired into his abdomen while filming a scene. Alex Proyas was the director on that film, which garnered positive reviews and became a minor hit, grossing $50 million in the U.S.
