The Palme d'Or race is heated as ever in Cannes with a handful of contenders still to peel out. One of those set for a bow is Olivier Assayas' “Clouds of Sils Maria” with Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart and Chloe Grace Moretz.
Binoche plays the eponymous Maria, an aging actress starring in a new production of the play that made her famous. The younger role, of course, has gone to a younger actress (Moretz), leaving Maria to reflect on the star she once was. Stewart plays Maria's assistant. In a festival filled, quite strikingly, with female-centric stories, this one seems like it will fit right in.
Check out the new international trailer for “Clouds of Sils Maria” below. (You can also watch a clip above.) Will this film, and/or Andrey Zvyagintsev's “Leviathan,” crash the party this week? Or will the Palme go to one of the critically lauded films we've already seen drop at the fest? We'll know soon!
Stay tuned for on-going coverage of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival as we enter the home stretch.
