If you shed a few tears watching the series finale of TNT’s “The Closer,” you weren’t alone.
Sitting down to chat with me about her new supernatural horror flick “The Possession” last week (incidentally, the film came in number one at the box office over the weekend with more than $21 million in ticket sales), series star Kyra Sedgwick spoke briefly on the “emotional” end of the long-running crime drama, which ran for seven seasons and netted Segwick both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her portrayal of former CIA interrogator Brenda Leigh Johnson.
“It was heartbreaking!” said the actress of the show’s final episode. “I mean it really was, it was very boo-hooey.”
Calling the last six episodes of the top-rated series “among our very best,” Sedgwick believes the show’s fans came away gratified by the earnestness with which they treated the final episode.
“You know, it had to be a big reason for her to leave, the character to leave,” she said. “And I think that people really appreciated the gravitas that we brought to it.”
You can check out the rest of Sedgwick’s comments in the video above.
