Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover and Michael Strahan are stripping down for “Magic Mike XXL.”
The trio of actors have filled out the cast of the forthcoming sequel, joining a list of stars that includes Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, and Jada Pinkett Smith. As previously reported, Matthew McConaughey will not be returning for the followup.
In addition to the casting news, the first official synopsis for the film has been revealed:
Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, the film finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blowout performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
Though “Magic Mike” director Steven Soderbergh will be returning as producer, cinematographer and editor on the sequel, he has handed the directing reins over to his longtime first A.D. Gregory Jacobs this go-round.
