Fast National ratings for Monday, June 15, 2015.
The Chicago Blackhawks cemented their semi-dynasty with another Stanley Cup win on Monday night and coverage of the Game 6 clincher helped NBC cruise to victory on Monday night.
Interestingly, while NBC's hockey coverage outrated the network's strong regular Monday coverage, removing the network's reality hits from the mix helped FOX's “So You Think You Can Dance” rise, while “The Bachelorette” was flat.
The night's only other original notable was another week of declines, smaller than last week, for “The Whispers.”
Let's get to the numbers…
Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 2.6 rating for Monday night, easily tops in the key demographic. ABC's 1.5 key demo rating and the 1.3 key demo rating for FOX followed. CBS averaged a 1.0 key demo rating for Monday primetime, followed by the 0.4 key demo rating for The CW.
Overall, NBC averaged 7.59 million viewers and a 4.2 rating/7 share for Monday primetime. ABC's 3.8/7 and 5.5 million viewers edged out CBS' 5.37 million viewers and 3.6/6 for second. FOX was fourth with 4.23 million viewers and a 2.5/4, followed at a distance by the 1.19 million viewers and 0.7/1 for The CW.
[I'm not sure on the specifics of the preemption, but those CW numbers are presumably inflated.]
8 p.m. – NBC's hockey coverage averaged 6.505 million viewers and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 to lead the 8 p.m. hour. ABC's “The Bachelorette” was a close second with 6.13 million viewers and a 1.7 key demo rating. Repeats of “2 Broke Girls” and “Mike & Molly” averaged 5.23 million viewers and a 1.1 key demo rating for CBS, compared to the 4.13 million viewers and 1.2 key demo rating for FOX's “So You Think You Can Dance.” The CW averaged 1.095 million viewers and a 0.4 key demo rating for the hour, which really wasn't all for a repeat of “The Originals.”
9 p.m. – Stanley Cup hockey rose to 7.53 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 for NBC in the 9 p.m. hour. ABC's “The Bachelor” held its ground with 6.33 million viewers and a 1.8 key demo rating. A “Scorpion” repeat averaged 5.02 million viewers and a 1.0 key demo rating, compared to the 4.335 million viewers and 1.3 key demo rating for the second hour of “So You Think You Can Dance” on FOX. The CW's “Jane the Virgin” repeat averaged an inflated 1.28 million viewers and a 0.4 key demo rating.
10 p.m. – NBC's Tampa Bay-Chicago coverage peaked in the 10 p.m. hour with 8.74 million viewers and a 3.1 rating among adults 18-49. CBS' “NCIS: Los Angeles” repeat averaged 5.87 million viewers, topping the 4.04 million viewers for ABC's “The Whispers,” while both networks averaged a 0.9 key demo rating.
