SAN FRANCISCO – As the daughter of rock legend Phil Collins, Lilly Collins has no doubt seen the ups and downs of the entertainment business. Happily, she’s seen a lot more ups lately. Collins first film, “The Blind Side,” was a worldwide blockbuster and she’s following that one up with Sony Pictures’ May tentpole “Priest.” She’ll return to screens this fall in Taylor Lautner’s highly anticipated thriller “Abduction.” This week, Collins found herself being cast in the intriguing “Brother’s Grimm Snow White” as none other than the Snow White herself. Not bad for two years in the movie business.
Speaking at San Francisco’s WonderCon on Saturday, Collins told me she’s a “huge fairy tale and fantasy fan” which made her stunt work in the upcoming “Priest” all the more exciting. She goes into rich detail about her work on a moving train and her ability to scream from real fear in the video embedded in this post.
As for “Snow White,” Collins says she hasn’t met her future Prince Charming (the already cast Armie Hammer of “The Social Network”) because she didn’t screen test for the role. Collins says she read for the part on Thursday of last week, met director Tarsem Singh that night and found out she was cast Friday afternoon after landing in the Bay Area. She says, “I’m still in shock.”
That may be true, but her excitement over both “Priest” and her iconic new role are more than evident.
Collins also reveals filmming will begin this June in Montreal. “Priest,” on the other hand,” will hit theaters in 3-D on May 15.
