Outrage Watch: Fury over Billboard’s ‘Greatest Rappers of all Time’ list

Welcome to Outrage Watch, HitFix's semi-regular rundown of entertainment-related kerfuffles. Not anxious enough already? Get your fix of righteous indignation below, and stay posted for outrage updates throughout the week.

Billboard writers Steven J. Horowitz and Alex Gale have opened themselves up for scrutiny today by positing their list of the “10 greatest rappers of all time” — and as might have been predicted, outrage over their choices is flying fast and furious around the interwebs, with names like Snoop Dogg, T.I. and Jay Electronica crying foul (still waiting on Azealia Banks).

First, here's the list:

1. Notorious B.I.G.
2. Jay Z
3. Eminem
4. Rakim
5. Nas
6. Andre 3000
7. Lauryn Hill
8. Ghostface Killah
9. Kendrick Lamar
10. Lil Wayne

While the biggest gripes so far seem to be the absence of West Coast rapping legend Tupac and the allegation that No. 7 Lauryn Hill (the only woman on the list) doesn't have enough raps to even qualify, other notable omissions include Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Kanye West and current comeback queen Missy Elliott. Here are a selection of gripes from around the social medias:
