“Paddington” has arrived, and London will never be the same.
Colin Firth voices the beloved bear in the upcoming live action/CG take on the literary icon which finds an impeccably polite, marmalade-loving bear set adrift in modern-day London. It also stars “Downton Abbey's” Hugh Bonneville as the man who takes in Paddington, only to have his bathroom ruined.
The new trailer is more of a teaser really, centered on Paddington's attempts to figure out such everyday conveniences as toothbrushes, toilets, and escalator instructions. The latter results in the trailer's most inspired gag in which he misinterprets a sign reading “Dogs must be carried.”
Directed by “The Mighty Boosh's” Paul King and produced by “Harry Potter” vet David Heyman, “Paddington” also stars Nicole Kidman, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and new “Doctor Who” star Peter Capaldi.
“Paddington” arrives this Christmas.
