Are you ready for a new clip from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens?” Good, because that's what we got last night during “60 Minutes,” when correspondent Bill Whitaker got to hang out with J.J. Abrams and watch him work on the new film.
At 7:27 in the video (available here), you'll see Rey meet BB-8, apparently for the first time, as she asks him where he comes from while, it appears, fixing his antenna. Whitaker comments that BB-8 will be the new R2-D2 and C-3PO.
“I hope so,” Abrams says, somewhat nervously.
But that's not all! In a web-only video, you can see what appears to be an even earlier part of that scene, where Rey frees BB-8 from the clutches of some alien, seemingly just by yelling at him. It starts at 4:15, although if you watch the whole clip you can see John Williams scoring the film and then Whitaker discussing how he and a producer got yelled at by the Disney “privacy police” for trying to take photos of the session on their iPhones.
